It All Began on a Danish Island.
CAI-PAN began with a practical question: how could Japanese peppermint oil support udder care? That question became a product, a family business and a network of international partnerships.
A practical idea on Samsø.
On the Danish island of Samsø, founder Peter Pampel worked with a Danish dairy farmer to explore Japanese peppermint oil in the care of dairy cows. Their positive observations inspired the development of CAI-PAN®mint.
That practical beginning remains central to our family business: specialist care, close contact with farms and personal commitment to animal well-being.
An idea takes shape in Denmark.
Physiotherapist and alternative practitioner Peter Pampel founded CAI-PAN in Denmark. Working with a farmer, he explored the role of Japanese peppermint oil, Mentha arvensis, in udder care. The starting point was close contact with the people who work with dairy cows every day.
The original CAI-PAN®mint.
CAI-PAN®mint entered the market in 1984. Our original udder cream became the foundation of the business and remains at the heart of our dairy care portfolio today.
A new chapter. The same family commitment.
When Peter Pampel retired in September 2014, CAI-PAN stayed in the family. The headquarters moved to Germany, with Daniel Münch as managing partner of CAI-PAN GmbH & Co. KG. That year also saw the introduction of CAI-PAN®sprizz, bringing udder care to a spray format.
Building a broader care portfolio.
The range expanded with additional products, including CAI-PAN® Melkfett and hoof care. The company continued to build on its experience in dairy care while developing its wider animal care offering.
